Explore Katie’s and Charlie’s Big Book Study workshop.
Katie & Charlie Parker, from Austin Texas are both awesome speakers with a powerful message, as practitioners of a disciplined program of recovery that has influenced and motivated many, they have facilitated many workshops. You can visit the XA-speakers.org website and hear their previous workshops as well as many other inspirational speakers.
As a couple in recovery they have become a beacon of truth of how their relationship dynamics are interwoven with our 12 spiritual principles and an unshakeable faith in the God of their understanding. Their storied paths of pain and frustration in recovery in the same home-group without the solution was just the first phase of a truly happy joyous and free life once they found their “blueprint for living”, love for each other and their God.
Nobody demonstrates the necessity of laughter throughout this process better than Katie & Charlie. They will challenge you, and motivate you to seek that spiritual awakening sufficient to recover from alcoholism we all need. If you believe, as we do, that “we found God does not make too hard terms with those who seek Him” (pg 46). Come join and seek a new experience together in fellowship.

Katie & Charlie shares
Katie P. shares her experience in recovery and how she became involved in the Program, and not just the fellowship. Her story really highlights the point that the cessation of our drinking is only the beginning. She has a wonderful energy and enthusiasm! Katie and her husband Charlie are delightful. They are warm and caring and such wonderful examples of living the program and incorporating it in to every aspect of their lives!
From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: “In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope.”
What is the Twelve Step Model? How is it a “treatment for alcoholism” or “alcohol abuse?” Katie makes some insightful points about our “self” manifesting in various ways, and how the third step reveals to us the different ways that “self” shows up. And although counseling offers a lot of great things, “self” cannot fix “self”.
